Donating Car Parts For a Good Cause

Donating car parts is becoming a new way for people to give to a charity. It used to be that if you had old car parts kicking around, the only way to get rid of them was to take them to a scrap heap. But now that many charity organizations have a system of accepting used cars as a form of donation, some are offering to take spare parts off your hands as well. The charity can make use of the parts and you'll be able to clean out the stuff in your garage that you don't want or need.

A donation of car parts makes sense in a lot of ways, since even scrap has a value. Naturally, the money earned from selling a few car parts would be less than what a charity group could get from a whole used car donation, and so there is less incentive for charities to spend the time dealing with parts. That being said, the charities that are well organized and can afford the time to obtain and sell car parts will have an extra source of income.

Though it seems that donating car parts is a much smaller contribution than giving away an entire car, the donation of car parts can actually result in a significant amount of money for a charity. Car parts have a certain value as scrap, but they can also be used to fix up other vehicles. A charity group that deals a lot with donated cars will likely have an arrangement with a garage and so your donated car parts could be used to repair other vehicles, increasing its value. This increase could be a small one or it could jump up to a thousand dollars.

Some charities will accept other car related items as well. Donating car merchandise is certainly an option for those with extra items they no longer want. Tools, decorations, and pretty much anything you can find in a garage is often considered to be worth donating. These items can be sold separately, or be included with a car when it is sold, as part of a package deal. There may be different sections that deal with these type of donations, so find out before making any preparations.

So you can see that donating car parts and other car merchandise can be just as valuable to a charity group as the donation of a car. There is money to be earned by selling material as scrap. Vehicles can be fixed up with the spare parts, and car-related items can be sold separately like any other donated items. It would be well worth your time to see just what you have in your garage that could be donated, giving you a tax deduction and clearing out some clutter in your garage as well.

CA car donation charities know that often the most frustrating part of selling a car is all the forms that need to be filled out, the transferring of legal property, and insurance changes. As a result, most organizations will make the whole process as paperless as possible, speeding the transaction up and reducing the need for digging up forgotten information. This is one reason why many prefer to donate to charity.

How I Will Donate My Car In Canada
The main difference I discovered when I decided to donate my car in my town, was that the "Cash for Clunkers" programs that both Canada and the States were offering at the time were quite different in terms of how much money you could get for used cars. The US program ended over the summer, but while it was in effect it offered up to $4500 for a used car donation. This is a huge amount when you consider that the Canadian program, which is still running, only offers about $300.

Donate A Car: Not Just in the US
The world has become a very small place and a good example of this was seen with the boost in auto sales that occurred with the "Cash for Clunkers" donate a car program. All the vehicles that were being bought with the cash rebates spurred the industry in America and everywhere else. Countries that exported parts, cars, and labor amongst other things, saw an increase in the demand for their services.
